Somnia, a Layer-1 blockchain virtual society platform, has launched an app to help builders create Metaverse experiences. Announced on July 18, the beta version of Somnia Playground aims to help creators build, share, and monetize their very own virtual worlds.
Features and Capabilities
Somnium Space Playground beta will allow creatives to build Metaverse worlds, invite friends, and display NFTs. This sandbox environment is where creators will be able to try out ideas without having infrastructure for servers that would costing time and money.
Somnia says Somnia Playground will soon make creating and publishing Metaverse content easier, allowing these creators to develop their visions.
Somnia is an interoperability protocol-powered, 300k plus tps EVM Layer-1. The setting places metaverses, gaming, NFTs, and social platforms into a cohesive on-chain virtual society. Somnia Playground offers content creators a place to play around, polish, and finesse their Metaverse experiences before launching them live on Somnia.
Users can invite friends with referral codes to climb up the quest leaderboard and show off their NFTs or build experiences in their virtual worlds with the chance for rewards in a digital currency or asset of their choice. Season 2 is coming, with new incentive quests that give users even more challenges to make Playground the best experience.
Future Developments
The current Playground is the first version. On the roadmap are planned improvements, including user-friendly tools for MML objects to be easily published into Somnium’s protocols for creating, customizing, and sharing unique items within the Metaverse.
Other plans include augmenting capacity in every space, which currently has 20 people, and adding voice chat features for even more immersive ways of interaction. Creations will be tradable once Somnia has gone live on the mainnet through Web3 marketplaces.
Paul Thomas, CEO of Somnia, commented on the platform’s potential: “We can’t wait to hear what creators think about the Somnia Playground. Our goal is to empower creators by giving them the tools they need to bring their Metaverse visions to life. With Somnia Playground, we are lowering the barriers to entry and enabling a new generation of creators to create innovative digital experiences.”
